Karnes, Beverly
I am a self taught artist who loves to explore numerous mediums, materials and
methods. Mixed media collage holds a fascination for me. I enjoy playing around
with and arranging colors, lines and shapes to create images that represent
nature. Using up all my supplies: acrylics, inks, watercolors, paper, paste,
mediums and other three dimensional supplies allows me lots of choices. I love
lots of texture…both real and imagined! I am interested in creating mixed media
works that call for the participation of the audience. I want the viewer to look at
my art and say, “How did she do that?”
Some shows I have participated in include Arts Mosaic in Virden, MB, Heritage
Art Centre, Hamiota, MB. Dome House Art Show, Yuma AZ, Art & Poetry
Exhibition, Yuma, AZ, Westman Juried Art Show, The Travelling Gallery, Rural &
Northern Show, Winnipeg.
Bev Karnes is a long time Manitoba resident now living in Ottawa. The prairies
are the inspiration for much of Bev’s art: the animals, the landscapes and the
architecture.
She learned to paint animals on rocks after reading a magazine article. Bev
thought it would be a great hobby to pass the time while camping. Little did she
know it would lead to an artistic journey exploring many mediums and subjects
culminating with abstract art that uses art mediums and collage techniques.
